TOX-TWINpoint - the innovative solution from TOX PRESSOTECHNIK with regard to changed demands on the connection of sheet metal parts. The TOX-Round Joint technology and the variants developed therefrom: TOX-Vario Joint, TOX-Flat Joint, and TOX-ClinchRivet are from now on added by the TOX -TWINpoint-Clinch joinings. With this, the specialists for system solutions in the range of sheet metal joinings, i.e. TOX PRESSOTECHNIK GmbH & Co. KG, 88250 Weingarten, set once more the standard for industrial sheet metal joinings. Of course, the original joining system TOX-Round Joint and its variants are still operating in millions of different industrial sections, but nevertheless the need to react in time to changed demands like miniaturization, lightweight constructions and new materials, led to the development of the TOX-TWINpoint. TOX-TWINpoint, being a double point design, TOX PRESSOTECHNIK has, once again, created a technically most appealing solution, for it is now possible to use a variant of the TOX-Round Joint process for parts having small flange widths, i.e. generally for small pieceparts. Notwithstanding the reduced diameters of the (double)-joint, comparably very high strength values and retention forces are obtained, even exceeding those of a TOX-Round Joint by factor 1.5 – 2.0. Besides this, with setting a TOX-TWINpoint also properties like anti-rotation lock and reduction of an eventual zipper effect (strain on end points of a row of joints) are added so that the TOX-TWINpoint is in many respects a real completion of the conventional, clinching and joining procedures. As already mentioned, a TOX-TWINpoint joining offers – if compared to the so-called single-point solution of the TOX-Round Joint -, an increase of the retaining forces. And with regard to longitudinal and transverse loads, almost no difference with regard to retaining forces can be seen. Specially as with the joining of soft materials, a particularly high increase of retaining forces can be achieved. The already above mentioned anti-rotation lock and the minimized zipper effect involve additional advantages with regard to application and use and make mechanic countermeasures superfluous and increase efficiency. The highlight of the TOX-TWINpoint joining technology is the fact that it is possible to keep point diameters and thus point distances very small. This means that the point diameter corresponds to the point distance, and last not least this results in the comparable very high strength values and retaining forces of the joined parts. In hundreds of lab and practise tests the TOX-TWINpoint has been stressed to the limits, providing impressive performance. TOX-TWINpoints are suitable for joining thin (0.2 mm) steel sheets, aluminium, copper, and special steel sheets as well as steel sheet components up to a total thickness of 11 mm. Of course, the TOX-TWINpoint principle can be applied to all TOX-Round Point sizes, from 1.0 mm (TOX-MICROpoint) to 26 mm, offering equal properties. The TOX-TWINpoint provides thus a quick, reproducible, precise and secure joining mainly applied in case of small flange widths. It represents the perfect completion of the TOX-Round Joint process.
